The soaring bird

She was lost in his world,
found hope in his words
and solace in his existence.

He knew she was broken
but he felt a part of those peices
and stuck around so she could be complete.

She fit perfectly
because she never had to try,
that was her place since time.

He knew this
but kept his word for she was a bird
and so he let her spread her wings into the skies.

She flew into seasons,
but every other summer
when the trees had blossomed she was back.

He would still be there,
standing strong, deeply rooted
with new leaves and he let her perch.

This was home for her,
she knew it from the bottom of her heart
but she loved the skies.

He never stopped her
but enjoyed the little moments
of her breathing from the tree branches.

She was never ready for the truth
or willing to hear it
because it would break her to pieces.

He promised to help her keep going,
that in good time the truth would hurt less
and he was always right.

One summer
she perched her wings on his branches
and sat through all the other seasons.

He was with her through the ices,
the heavy winds and waited
till she would be better to fly again.

But she stayed, he stayed
and walked his fingers through every crack
and fillled it with tiny bits of himself.
.
It was not perfect but different,
a different that made her never leave
and him happy that he waited.
